HOMEWORK
POLICY Your child will have some homework almost every night. It is your child’s responsibility to get all late/missing/make-up work in by the Friday of each week. Our House has a homework hot line which is updated daily by 3:00P.M (970-3253). Please have a pencil and paper ready when you call to check on your student’s daily assignments. You may also leave a message for the team teachers after the homework update is given.
If I have your
e-mail address, you will receive your child’s grade book information
every Thursday.
I have found
that this is a very effective way for you and your student to monitor
his/her progress. I
also post grades in the classroom by students’ ID numbers every
Thursday. I strongly
encourage your student to take an active role in assuming responsibility
for his/her progress. This
will also help to prepare him/her for the high school experience.
EACH STUDENT RECEIVES A CALENDAR ON THE FIRST SCHOOL DAY OF EVERY
MONTH. IT SHOWS ASSIGNMENTS,
DUE DATES, QUIZZES/TESTS, AND FIELD TRIPS OR SPECIAL EVENTS.
YOU ARE WELCOME TO HAVE AN EXTRA ONE BROUGHT HOME. WEB SITE
I have created a web site for 8-B Language Arts. It contains important information such as monthly calendars, unit information, valuable web sites, updates, and student monthly newsletters. I hope that you and your child will find it useful. Site address: Waukesha.k12.us.wi SKILLS ENRICHMENT or “learning how to learn” Skills enrichment is not a study hall. It is an active learning time during which students will have study skills ( organization, note taking, test taking, and reading strategies, etc.) taught, be able to get extra help in courses, complete make-up work, and pursue special areas of interest such as music, art, gifted & talented enrichment. Students’ use of this time is individualized and closely monitored. This is also an enrichment time for the Wisconsin Knowledge and Concept Examination. G & T students will be provided with many opportunities during the course of the school year. All experiences will be in place of regular classroom work. Documentation of activities will be kept in your child’s G & T folder, which I will share with you at conferences. Our goal is a successful
school year. I am looking
forward to working with you and your child.
Please feel free to call me if you have any concerns or questions.
Thank you in advance for your support! CONFERENCE SCHEDULE
