Kristallnacht: “Night of broken glass”  November 9, 1938  the beginning of Jewish extermination

 Holocaust:  a massive slaughter-especially by fire 

Jew:  one who practices the faith of Judaism

Swastika:  ancient symbol – hooked cross- used to ward off evil spirits –Nazis used this as their national emblem.

Genocide:  the systematic, planned annihilation of racial, political, or cultural group

Scapegoat: a person or thing bearing the blame for others
