Map Assignment: Students will create a visual map showing Ichabod Crane's final ride through Sleepy Hollow

.                    Sleepy Hollow Map

Directions:  On unlined paper make a map showing Ichabod’s route to the Van Tassel farm for the party and his route back home through Sleepy Hollow.

 1.   Your map should contain a key in which you show the symbols used to represent the following places:

·       Hudson River

·       Tarry town

·       Sleepy Hollow and the small brook

·       School, brook and birch tree

·       Van Tassel’s farm

·       Major Andre’s tree

·       Wiley’s swamp – just after Major Andre’s tree

·       Fork in the road—right goes to Sleepy Hollow; left goes to church

·       Wooden bridge and brook near church

·       Church and graveyard

2.    You can find out where these places are by reading carefully the description of Ichabod’s famous ride.

3.    The map should be done with colored pencils and as NEAT as possible.  The map will be graded on neatness as well as accuracy.

4.   USE YOUR IMAGINATION!  Originality is also considered as far as a final grade is concerned.
