Over the past two to three years Hawthorne Elementary has been on a journey to transform their instructional model and have recently been identified by the SDW school board as a Magnet school focusing on STEM. Similar to the Waukesha STEM Academy Charter school they have added the same science and engineering curriculums used at WSA. They have also been implementing new instructional strategies with a focus on engaging students in applying their knowledge and skills in a collaborative environment. Hawthorne also includes the use of multi-age classrooms in which teachers use flexible grouping to meet individual student needs. In order to fully implement this STEM focused program, Hawthorne has also been an early recipient of technology resources in order to fully embed learning in the use of today's technology tools.
Hawthorne STEM elementary will continue to accept school choice applications until April 26th.

PARENTS UNITED CONSORTIUM is a non-profit consortium of 18 Waukesha County Special Education Departments that have united to provide an educational community service. The mission of the group is to present timely and informative information, in a neutral forum, for parents and professionals who work with children. The lectures and presentations offered each school year provide essential links, knowledge, and networking to the entire community for the ultimate benefit of our students.
Lights! Camera! Autism
Dec 6, 2012 Autism program by Kate McGinnity & Sharon Hammer. "Lights, Camera, Autism" will begin registration at 8:00 with a light breakfast available. Advanced registration is required by Nov 29.
